True Blood's Ryan Kwanten Keeps His Teeth to Himself

Has anyone tasted True Blood? The viral marketing campaign for HBO’s new vampire series, which includes fake ads for a blood drink with the tag line "Don't Let Friends Drink Friends" is very catching and a little creepy. I watched the pilot back in July and while it has some gruesome moments, it definitely has an interesting variety of characters, some played by actors we know and some we wanted to get to know. One of the latter is Ryan Kwanten, who plays Jason Stackhouse, so we asked him to stop by the L.A. office.

Ashley Tisdale (and her paparazzi entourage) Pays Us a Visit

Word around the office is that I'm a 16-year-old girl trapped in an adult's body. My obsession with the Twilight tween book series, the fact that I don't miss an episode of The Secret Life of the American Teen and my love of fashionable yet affordable Forever 21 apparel all support this theory. There is one other small detail that I've kept quiet from my office friends, for fear of never ending ridicule—I once stayed home on a Friday night to watch High School Musical. Yes, I moved the coffee table out of my living room so I could dance my heart out while Troy (Zac Efron), Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens), and Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) showed off the steps to their hit song "We’re All in This Together". So having Ashley Tisdale visit our L.A. office was quite a treat for me.

Nastia Liukin Lands at In Style

I was pretty depressed watching the Olympic torch go out in Beijing Sunday night. For the past two weeks I’ve stayed up way past my bedtime to watch Michael Phelps swim away with 8 gold medals, Usain Bolt become the fastest man in the world and enough trampolining that I’ve come up with my own routine. But the sport that had all the girls in the office huddled around the water cooler chatting was women’s gymnastics. We analyzed Nastia Liukin’s perfect floor routine, cheered Shawn Johnson's gold medal win--finally!--and comiserated over Alicia Sacramone’s fall. So, what better way to get over my Olympic finale blues than to have Nastia Liukin herself come visit us at our Los Angeles office?

Whoa Mama it's Dominic Cooper

Summertime in Los Angeles means lunches by the pool, late sunsets at the beach and lots of movies. Lucky for me, it also means that the actors in those movies stop by our offices to promote their projects and get to know our editors.  This was the case with the gorgeous British actor Dominic Cooper, who happens to be in two movies I am very excited about--the blockbuster hit, Mama Mia! and the upcoming Keira Knightly film, The Duchess.

We Go Wild for Sabrina Bryan

Disney has a long tradition of creating huge stars--Kurt Russell, Justin Timberlake and Lindsay Lohan to name just a few--but I've always wondered what it would be like to transition into adulthood when you first find fame as part of the Mouse House. My questions were answered when Sabrina Bryan stopped by our offices to talk about life as a Cheetah Girl, her stint on Dancing with the Stars and her passion for real estate.

Lauren Makes Her Mark

The question I'm asked most is whether I ever get nervous when I interview celebrities. Other than the occasional heart palpitation around someone like George Clooney--to whom any woman with a pulse would fall prey--I'm not prone to bouts of the jitters. So after meeting everyone from Angelina to Madonna, who is the one person that reduced me to a babbling fan? Lauren Conrad, star of MTV's The Hills.

Everybody Loves Rachel

We here at InStyle.com know our readers love Rachel Bilson, so when I was invited to interview the actress at a press junket to promote the DVD release of her action flick, Jumper, I, well, jumped at the chance. As it turns out, Bilson loves us as much as we love her. "Someone emailed me once when I was the Look of the Day and now I check out the site every day," the actress said. I fist met Bilson two years ago when she posed for our Toronto Film Festival portfolio. I remembered her as being so sweet--and so tiny that we had to have her stand on a box in order to fit she and her Last Kiss co-star, Zach Braff in the same frame! When we met this time, we covered lots of ground--talking about everything from how it feels to be a newly-minted action star to how she feels about being called a style icon.

Penny's Ready For Her Close-Up

It seems that everyone has Sex and The City fever in New York. The TV series still holds a special place in the hearts of Gothamites, and we're more than ready to put down our $11.25 for our ticket to the big screen version--yes, that's how much a movie ticket costs in our great city--at the end of this month. So it was no surprise that the biggest star on a recent red carpet was the King Charles Spaniel Penny, who plays Charlotte's dog Elizabeth Taylor.

Escape from New York

Now that it's the dead of winter in New York and the Oscars are over, I've been fantasizing about catching the next flight to Rio. But Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto’s summery new CD, Momento, is the next best thing—it’s chill-out music with all the warmth of soulful bossa nova. While listening to it, I can easily imagine being on a sunny beach with Havaianas on my feet and a caipirinha in hand. (Momento isn't out until April 24th but you can download remixes of the first single, "Bring Back the Love," on iTunes.

Bebel

When Bebel recently swung by In Style’s office for a meet and greet, I assumed that she was just in town to promote her album. I think I even asked: “How are you staying warm?” as if she was a tourist. But Bebel told me she’s made the East Village her home for the past 13 years, which surprised me because she's so fun and flirty and not jaded like a longtime New Yorker. How do you get a taste of Brazil in N.Y.C., I asked? I thought Bebel might suggest a churrascaria in the midtown neighborhood of Little Brazil, but instead she recommended a charming little eatery in the West Village called Casa. She's friends with the owner and also the restauranteur's sister, fashion designer Jussara Lee, who has a cool shop on Little West 12th Street. And of course Bebel knows Carlos Miele, whose only boutique outside of Brazil is located nearby in the Meatpacking District. As for nightlife, she recommends the club and performance space Nublu on Avenue C, which is best known for spawning the hip rock band the Brazilian Girls (but unlike Bebel and her friends, they're not really Brazilian and only the lead singer is female).
