Most people think of L.A. as a place where skinny starlets skip dinner to go club hopping, but we do have some really great restaurants. So when a bunch of girlfriends and I opted for a recent a girls night out, we pulled some strings to get a reservation at our town's hottest new eatery, Foxtail. I had been to Foxtail before it was officially open for a pre-Oscar party thrown by talent agency Endeavor. That night, the place was filled with A-liserts like Javier Bardem, Casey Affleck and Kate Hudson and plenty of industry types. Since I am quite the gabber, I didn't the chance to sample the food, but I did get to admire the atmosphere and made it a point to come back when I could sit down and get the full Foxtail experience.

The last time I found myself in such a cool Manhattan apartment, it happened to belong to Sting and Trudie Styler! So I couldn't resist snapping some shots of Pat Field's place—especially given that after her End of Fashion Week party began to clear out, at around 2 a.m., I wound up helping Pat move the living room furniture back into place.

I think it's hilarious that part of my job involves editing a page of recipes for In Style’s Entertaining features, because I can barely make toast. (Fortunately for all of you foodies out there, we employ a professional recipe tester to ensure that everything down to the parsley-sprig garnish is accurate). For me, a typical meal usually consists of a takeout tuna wrap and a Red Bull from Equinox gym. So I couldn't pass up an invite to a dinner party at N.Y.C.'s Country restaurant, where stars like Heath Ledger and John Mayer—not to mention someone named Oprah—have all dined.

The chef and owner, Geoffrey Zakarian, is so movie-star handsome that his wedding was featured in our In Style Weddings special issue. And he shared a recipe with me that I would actually attempt to make myself—because, after all, it's a cocktail recipe (it's at the end of this post).
