The Jingle Ball Rocks!

On Friday, I talked InStyle.com photo editor Kassidy Gala into joining me backstage at the annual Z100 Jingle Ball. Of course, once I told her that Kanye West, Ne-Yo and Katy Perry were among the list of expected performers, it didn't take much convincing.

Our first stop--once we'd made it past the hordes of screaming girls--was the H&M Artists Gift Lounge, where celebrity guests like Ashley Tisdale, Brandy and Leona Lewis picked up goodies like the Pearl flip phone from BlackBerry, a Canon digital camera and special-edition totes from Dooney & Bourke. I caught up with Ashley at the Soda Stream station, where we sampled make-your-own soft drinks.

Before giving the audience a sizzling set--complete with a special appearance by Rihanna!--Chris Brown ducked into the lounge, where we overheard him joke with the H&M representative that he needed a sponsorship deal. Little did the singing star know that tucked inside his personalized stocking was a $500 gift card and a VIP shopping membership to help him keep his wardrobe stocked.

After watching Nick Lachey donate some pedal power to the Duracell Snowmobike--which will be stored up and used as energy to power the 2009 sign in Times Square on New Year's Eve, Kassidy and I headed into the arena to catch performances by Katy Perry and Ne-Yo.

Finally, we stopped back at the lounge to pose for some holiday pictures and tracked down the adorable Peter Facinelli for a photo op so that Kassidy's Partyhopper debut would be a very memorable occasion.

Our thanks to super-publicist Christopher Gustaphson and Clear Channel's Josefa Paganuzzi for making this another rockin' Jingle Ball.--Bronwyn Barnes
