Word around the office is that I'm a 16-year-old girl trapped in an adult's body. My obsession with the Twilight tween book series, the fact that I don't miss an episode of The Secret Life of the American Teen and my love of fashionable yet affordable Forever 21 apparel all support this theory. There is one other small detail that I've kept quiet from my office friends, for fear of never ending ridicule—I once stayed home on a Friday night to watch High School Musical. Yes, I moved the coffee table out of my living room so I could dance my heart out while Troy (Zac Efron), Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens), and Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) showed off the steps to their hit song "We’re All in This Together". So having Ashley Tisdale visit our L.A. office was quite a treat for me.

I was pretty depressed watching the Olympic torch go out in Beijing Sunday night. For the past two weeks I’ve stayed up way past my bedtime to watch Michael Phelps swim away with 8 gold medals, Usain Bolt become the fastest man in the world and enough trampolining that I’ve come up with my own routine. But the sport that had all the girls in the office huddled around the water cooler chatting was women’s gymnastics. We analyzed Nastia Liukin’s perfect floor routine, cheered Shawn Johnson's gold medal win--finally!--and comiserated over Alicia Sacramone’s fall. So, what better way to get over my Olympic finale blues than to have Nastia Liukin herself come visit us at our Los Angeles office?

Sunday is usually my one day of rest, but this weekend I decided to give up my last few "me time" hours before the start of the work week to attend the Gossip Girl bash at shopping mecca Henri Bendel. Why did I brave a throng of aggressive GG fans on Fifth Ave. when I could have been at home with my feet up enjoying my night off? Because we here at InStyle.com know that our readers can't get enough of the show and we'll do anything to deliver what you want. Besides giving fashionable New Yorkers an excuse to stay up late on a school night, the soiree was thrown in honor of Gossip Girl costume stylist Eric Daman, who not only dresses the actresses in drool-worthy designs for the show, but is also responsible for helping them to develop their own off-screen style.

I got American Idol fever later than most die-hard fans. I remember it well--it was season six and my college roommates and I would take a break from studying to relax and laugh with Paula, argue with Simon and quote Randy, all the while cheering for our favorite contestant, Jordin Sparks. So, when Karen asked me to go downtown to check out the Jordin Sparks/Jesse McCartney concert, I was so up to the task. I had never been to the Orpheum, a landmark L.A. theater where the concert was to take place. Plus, this gave me the perfect opportunity to take intern Julie Wiencek, a USC student and fellow Idol fan, to the show and after-party.

**Update: I just heard from Katie's stylist, Jeanne Yang. Jeanne says that the Holmes & Yang imprint will include a few limited edition pieces created for "friends and their daughters." The label was created to personalize Katie's look and the design duo are "ecstatic" at the response they have received from the debut ensemble--a navy leather halter top and leather trimmed silk skirt. So you won't be seeing Holmes & Yang in a Neiman Marcus near you, but we'll all have more opportunities to drool over Katie's signature style. And Suri's too!--BB
For the last couple of weeks our office has been buzzing with talk that Katie Holmes has been spotted around New York City showing off her casual side. She's back in the Big Apple to attend rehearsals for her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller's All My Sons, and she's been making quite the style statement thanks to the pegged PRPS Jeans--borrowed from husband Tom Cruise--she's sports on her walks to the theater. So it was nice to see Katie go back to glam for the Hollywood premiere of Tropic Thunder last night. And when we found out she'd designed the ensemble herself, it blew our minds.

He is so charming, that Anthony Mackie. But since he lives in New York, I don't see him very often. Plus, he's always working--if you look him up on IMDB.com you'll see that he has seven movie projects in the works. So it was rather fitting when Mackie was named Ambassador of the 2008 American Black Film Festival. To celebrate, Hennessey and fellow New Yorkers Bevy Smith and Anthony’s manager, Jason Spire, threw a dinner at the Thompson Hotel’s Bond St in Beverly Hills to toast the actor and his most recent achievements.

Like many TV nerds, I initially resisted the "American version" of The Office in an attempt to stay loyal to Ricky Gervais and the original British series. But it wasn't long before I was won over by pious accountant Angela, adorable sad sack Jim and, most of all, evil genius Dwight Schrute. So I was trilled when I heard that Rainn Wilson had been cast in his first starring role in the hair metal comedy, The Rocker. After a screening of the funny flick, I had a chance to chat with Rainn about his musical inspirations, the growing popularity of real life leading men, and just how much his hair has to do with creating a memorable character.

Summertime in Los Angeles means lunches by the pool, late sunsets at the beach and lots of movies. Lucky for me, it also means that the actors in those movies stop by our offices to promote their projects and get to know our editors. This was the case with the gorgeous British actor Dominic Cooper, who happens to be in two movies I am very excited about--the blockbuster hit, Mama Mia! and the upcoming Keira Knightly film, The Duchess.
In Style L.A. editors Karen, Ali and Cortney welcome Mama Mia star Dominic Cooper.
