Kanye Lights Up L.A.

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to crash land a spaceship in the middle of the galaxy and then find yourself confused, alone and in search of purpose? Neither have I. But that's exactly what Kanye West announced that he was going to do when his Glow in the Dark tour made a stop at L.A.'s Nokia Theater. More specifically, Kanye--who has an incredible blog of his own--has declared that he is "on a quest to find creativity on earth."

Kanye

In February, Kanye gave viewers at the Grammys a taste of what was to come on his "Glow in the Dark" tour.

Lupe Fiasco was the opening act, followed by the Pharrell Williams-led  N.E.R.D. When Pharrell jumped off the stage to mix it up with the audience, I realized I had just enough time to go downstairs to the Nokia lounge for popcorn and a drink before Rihanna hit the stage. (RiRi looked amazing-clad in a skintight short bodysuit with fluorescent pink piping and neon nails to match.) Sitting a few rows behind me were Ashlee Simpson and her fiancé Pete Wentz and while she tried to stay incognito in her gray hoodie sweater, fans were quick to spot the couple and click away on their camera cell phones. Finally, I put on my white LIGHT UP shades joined the audience in chanting "KANYE, KANYE!"

It was 11:00 p.m. when he finally made his appearance on a stage that was set to look like a scene out of Sci-Fi movie--complete with roaming planets, digital images of a spacecraft and a slanted stage that reacted to the planet’s "unstable climate." Kanye played the part of a lone astronaut trying to find his way home using songs like "Good Morning," "Golddigger," and "Hey Mama." I later found out that the whole concept of the tour was his idea. Nice job, Kanye. I’ll crash land with you anytime.--Karen Levy

I have been so busy with the election, that I have barely had time for a good scoop from LA! Thanks, Karen. I'll be sure to look for the tour as it winds here through Ohio. Love that Riri!
