It's In The Jeans

Hipster denim companies seem to pop up faster than paparazzi shots of Britney Spears. But labels like Levi Strauss--who count Chace Crawford and Jessica Alba among their celebrity fans-- and Rock and Republic just keep coming up with fresh ways to do denim. During L.A. Fashion Week's Collection Preview, I stopped by several showrooms to check out the latest denim must-haves. My first stop was Levi's, where I scouted their latest line called Levi's Capital E. My next stop was the Rock and Republic showroom on trendy Robertson Blvd. Their maternity jeans are a huge hit with pregnant stars like Halle Berry and Christina Aguilera and they also have a great selection of belts, bags and shoes.

In addition to the fashion finds, I also learned about Rock and Republic's Rock The Cure program, which earmarks 100% of the profits from one stand-out item in each R&R collection to benefit City of Hope, a research and treatment center dedicated to fight cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Look for the Rock the Cure tags the next time you're shopping for jeans!

My third stop was
The A-list, a company that represents fashion labels like Express, Ports 1961 and Kidada Jones for Disney Couture. This showroom is always so much fun because it's like walking into a cute little boutique off Sunset Blvd. A-list owner Ashlee Margolis showed me the latest Express line--they get new stuff in every two weeks--including a light weight trench coat Sophia Bush just picked out. In addition to drooling over the clothes, it's also fun to look for your favorite stars on Ashlee's wall of Polaroids. Jessica Biel, Rebecca Romijn and (my favorite) Jason Lewis
are just a few of the celebrities who have popped by to pick out some gear. Happy shopping!--Karen Levy
