Let me introduce you to In Style's celebrity magnet, Suzanne Zuckerman. Why, just the other night, when we went out to entertain some VIPs (very important publicists) at Sascha in Manhattan's Meatpacking District, she practically opened the cab door on Vin Diesel (who was looking mega-buff in a city-chic ensemble by Nike—brave Vin flouts the rules of fashion, proving that muscle Ts aren't just for the gym anymore).

Suzanne, meanwhile, always appears as if she's just walked straight off the cover of a magazine: flawless skin, gorgeous hair, super-cute outfits—you can't help but gush when you meet her and she's even more fun to party with than Diddy.

As any L.A. power publicist knows, persuading one of their A-list clients to schlep to a party outside the Hollywood area is no easy feat—no matter how hefty the goody bag. Similarly, in N.Y.C. it's rare to spot celebrities beyond the borders of Manhattan. Lately, though, they've been flocking to a faraway location with a glamour-challenged reputation: New Jersey. (And no, I'm not just talking about the cast of The Sopranos.) Atlantic City, which I jokingly refer to as the A.C., seems more like the O.C. these days. Okay, not really. But still: Consider all of the young Hollywood stars, like Wilmer Valderrama and Danny Masterson, who braved a four-hour commute in traffic just to get their groove on at the Borgata's new club, Mur.Mur.

I think it's hilarious that part of my job involves editing a page of recipes for In Style’s Entertaining features, because I can barely make toast. (Fortunately for all of you foodies out there, we employ a professional recipe tester to ensure that everything down to the parsley-sprig garnish is accurate). For me, a typical meal usually consists of a takeout tuna wrap and a Red Bull from Equinox gym. So I couldn't pass up an invite to a dinner party at N.Y.C.'s Country restaurant, where stars like Heath Ledger and John Mayer—not to mention someone named Oprah—have all dined.

The chef and owner, Geoffrey Zakarian, is so movie-star handsome that his wedding was featured in our In Style Weddings special issue. And he shared a recipe with me that I would actually attempt to make myself—because, after all, it's a cocktail recipe (it's at the end of this post).

Hip hotelier Jeff Klein has an insta-"It Eatery" on his hands with the new restaurant at his Sunset Tower Hotel. One of my L.A. correspondents, Rhonda Richford, reports that Penelope Cruz and Lindsay Lohan dined at the Terrace before it was officially open. "It's the only place in town where you can find an outdoor barbecue," says Klein, who admits: "I copied the idea from Nikki Beach in St. Tropez!"

Sealing the Terrace's status as a hotspot? A recent Chanel Beauté party that attracted an ultra-casual Kirsten Dunst, who declined to pose for photographers, as well as style-obsessed locals such as Nicole Richie, who left before a dinner of pasta and grilled lobster was served (not because of any food aversion but because she had an attention-starved kitty at home). "I have five now," Richie said of her ever-growing pet collection. "They're like my babies! I'm insane."

Amy Sacco, a.k.a. the Club Queen of N.Y.C., has witnessed quite a few celebrity brouhahas at her eternal hotspot, Bungalow 8 (Naomi Campbell vs. Nicky Hilton; Stephen Dorf vs. Jeremy Piven—those long bathroom lines don’t always bring out the best behavior in stars who are not accustomed to waiting for, well, anything).

But at L.A.'s Bar Marmont, it was all peace, love and martinis at the Imperia Vodka-sponsored and -spiked party for the nightlife diva-turned-author’s cool new coffee-table tome from Assouline, appropriately titled Cocktails. (That's Amy above in the green dress, flanked by Eva Mendes and Benicio Del Toro.)

Grammy-winning singer Mya (you probably remember her from the all-star remake of "Lady Marmalade" or from her mega-hit, "Ghetto Superstar") stopped by the In Style offices this week to give me a sneak preview of some hot tracks from her new CD, Liberation, which drops in November.
Equally hot? Jezebel, the sauna-like but sultry soul-food restaurant near Hell's Kitchen, where we later had a little dinner party to celebrate. We dished about new songs from Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake as well as what looks to be the party of the year in N.Y.C.: The MTV Video Music Awards on August 31. Fashion Week—that seven-day-long party that takes over Manhattan's Bryant Park—hits town the following week, and Mya said she's looking forward to catching the runway action of local favorite Heatherette and Australian designers Sass & Bide.
Music and fashion—it's a combination that rocks Mya's world (and ours, too, of course).
